Independent Student Association (Niezależne Zrzeszenie Studentów), a student movement established in Poland in 1980, allegedly as an "independent" student movement opposing the communist dictatorship, was in fact entirely
organized and controlled by the Communist authorities. Some members of
this group made quite significant political careers.
